    • This is a fascinating book on the history of the existence homosexuality across time, culture and art. I learned a great deal, but perhaps most importantly, that just about everything of an historical nature taught in our schools misses all the important bits, and distorts through today's reading glasses what have been societal norms and truths, and in general deludes us. I found this to be a very worthwhile read.

    • This book is quite helpful, approached with the right background in Jungian psychiatric archetypes. Like all models, it falls far short of reality. That it accurately identifies certain themes in homoerotic literature in the English language is indisputable. A wholesome read for the gay male interested in understanding the inner workings of Forster and other English writers.

    • Diluting the divergent personality of gay men into two separate categories fails miserably - this reads as a poor example of hyperbolic shaman-ism with a dose of self help and the clarity of an arcane astrological chart. I must either be effete and artistic or earthy and doomed to poverty?
