Miriam Hendeles was born in NYC, and raised in Brooklyn She attended high school there, and then Brooklyn College, earning a degree in Computer Science After moving to Los Angeles in 1980, she switched careers to become a music therapist She taught music at Jewish day schools, gave piano lessons, and then attended California State University, Northridge, earning her degree in Music, and a credential in music therapy She later completed the M.A in Special Education, after which she worked for 15 years with children and adults with developmental disabilities providing them with music intervention to increase language and social skills She taught English and writing at a local high school Currently, she writes for a variety of magazines, and has recently published Mazel Tov It s a Bubby a book for new and transitioning grandmothers As a music therapist, she presently provides services to elderly in hospice care She lives with her husband, sons and sometimes visiting grandsons whom she enjoys doting on in Los Angeles.
