    • This is a really great book with many twists and turns. I was mad when I had to put it down to study ;). The science vs religion is always an interesting topic and the Maglia itself is an uncommon place, one that I couldn't wait to know more about. I always appreciate the growing of characters through out the book, so it wasn't hard for me to start rooting for Zander Grace. And Hadley is such a sweetheart! I should also mention Lynch Katlan who is so psychotic and yet still interesting character [...]

    • I received a free copy of this book through First Reads. FTC guidelines: check!First, let me confess, I "binged" on this book. I started to read it this morning and ended up finishing it in the afternoon- that's how much I enjoyed it.Brit Malorie has crafted an extraordinary fantasy world, reminiscent of Lev Grossman's Fillory or Tad William's Otherworld. The difference is that Malorie's world is a spiritual realm just beyond the fabric of this one. Within this realm, spiritual ideals like soul [...]

    • Brit Malorie's Vita Maglia drew me in from the opening chapter of this well crafted novel. I resented having to put it down for any time at all, and it is one of the few books that I will definitely want to read again. The characters are interesting and very well developed. Drug addicted Zander Grace is a runaway wasting away on an Island of hedonistic pursuits. He is rescued and returned to the safety of his home by his father's scientist friend. It's interesting that the understated character o [...]

    • I just read some of the other reviews on here, and I can't believe other readers didn't absolutely love the Lynch character. What a monster, but he's definitely the most interesting man I've read about in a long time. Wouldn't want to meet him in a dark alley! The rest of it was pretty good, too. I like the perspectives of Seth and the Catholic Church's interest in the discovery, but I also understand Zander and the scientists' POV. The psychics were interesting, but I don't do meditation and sp [...]

    • Rated 3.5 stars.I received this from GoodReads for review. So we have a (very, very) reluctant hero, Zander who is 25 and a recovering drug addict who just was rescued from a cult on the south Pacific island of Kadera. He's smart, has a masters in physics. (I took two semesters of physics in college and I can tell you how difficult that subject is, never mind the calculus and all those equations!) Yet everyone around him treats him like he's 15 (or even 5). They talk down to him, tell him he's no [...]

    • Vita Maglia by Brit Malorie is an exotic thriller set in the South Pacific, focusing on the exploits of the Grace family whose research on a remote island leads to frightening discoveries. Hale Brecker travels to Kadera Island in hopes of bringing the wayward Zander Grace back into the fold. He is well aware of the unresolved issues between father and son, largely due to the paranormal research of Jason Grace that defied the religious traditions of their Catholic faith. Yet Zander's quest for tr [...]

    • Disclaimer: I received this book from author in exchange for an honest review.Vita Maglia was an imaginative book that explored spirituality, relationships, and the endless connections in the world we live in. It was part adventure, romance, suspense and maybe even a little mysterious, which made it enjoyable and page turning. Some of the main story elements were unique and I liked how the author approached them. This idea of a 'dimension' where these connections resided was interesting, and Malo [...]

    • I won this book in a giveaway. This is one of my most confusing books I've read. The truth (the world)…A dream (the island Kadera)…A young man (Zander Grace)Living a lie (drug addiction)…The secret (our souls)…The center (psychics and science)…Another dimension (Vita Maglia)The truth.Zander Grace's father had begun to discover the source of where mind, body and soul meet. It's a discovery that Lynch Katlan is determined to learn, no matter who he has to hurt in the process. Zander is b [...]

    • Add-on: Here's what you need to do. You need to go buy this book, read it, and then set it aside. Trust me, it'll wiggle around in the back of your brain for a bit and then you'll be compelled to go back and read it again. It's that good and it makes you think. :-)Original Review:I won this book through First Reads. I entered the giveaway thinking, "the description sounds like it might be interesting and if it turns out to be boring at least it was free." The book is wonderful. In the book there [...]

    • I was lucky to be a winner of this book from the giveaway. I really enjoyed reading this book and it is unlike anything I have read in the past. Vita Maglia is located at a layer that majority of people cannot see. Vander Grace happens to be an exception since he can travel between the two layers. His father has discovered a way to travel and put his entire life towards the research of learning more about Maglia. But this causes a rift between him and Vander and shortly runs away and does not c [...]

    • I won this book through one of the giveaways. I found the description to be enticing but it took me a very long time to "get into" the book and only continued reading it so that I could finish it and write a review. Unfortunately, I only gave it 2 stars because it didn't hook me and it took forever to get through it. I wanted the main characters to evolve differently and they were my favorite people to read about and their love and the love that lasts through the layers. I think Vita Maglia cou [...]

    • Pretty good book I think. It goes really fast through the island scenes, but then it slows down when it gets to the discovery. The romance was incredibly sweet. I really fell in love with Zander, but I was frustrated by all the twists and turns between him and Bryn. I liked the issues the author brought up about religion versus science, and I like how she lets me decide for myself. This book really made me think about what I believe. I didn't give it 5 stars because of the Lynch psychopath scene [...]

    • received this first-read giveaway from the author. i could barley put the book down, the story easily ingulfs you into the world. the intuitive, ghost, fifth dimension, science, meditation, played well together. each character was interesting in there own way that your never bored of them or hate. im not a fan of god & romance but it was ok. the writing was a bit juvenile, a random sentence here & there didnt fit a certain flow that the rest of the writing had. aroud pg 50 i was questio [...]

    • I was drawn into the merger of real world/spiritual world, science vs. religion, drug haze visions and paranormal possibilities of this plot. Throw in mad scientists, evil relatives, fanatical worshipers, a tropical island with a psychopath and I sure want to read the next installment to see what happens. I love it that the author is a trained scientist. As an aside, the title could be literally translated as "Life Vest," which would be thrown out to save a drowning person, or "Life Knit," as in [...]

    • This story blossoms gradually from one in which the normal and paranormal are casually (and seamlessly) woven together into one in which an entire metaphysics as well as its consequences for everyday reality are explored and elaborated upon. I liken the effect it had on me to that of the rabbit hole on Alice or the red pill on Neo. In other words, this novel will take you into a world you have not yet imagined but will be thankful to discover. I highly recommend it.

    • I really enjoyed this one. The island was fascinating to me, and the characters (except for Lynch) are very likable. I don't think anyone could not like Zander. Malorie delivers a compelling story that leaves the reader thinking about the characters long after putting the book (or computer) down. It's not very often that I find the time to read a book so quickly, but Vita Maglia proved to good a read to stop. I'll be putting this author on my watch list for upcoming titles.

    • Vita Maglia has an appealing mix of characters, adventure, and thought provoking ideas that capture your imagination. It explores the realm of spirituality in a way that is unique and makes you wonder. I loved all the characters and how they interact. Lynch is the psychpath you love to hate! It is a well told story, leaves you wanting more. Terrific read!

    • It was a good book. Had many twists in it. I am glad I read the book, because it would not be one that I would have picked out, but do recommend it to people. The plot is good and made you want to keep reading it to find out what happens. Not liking how the book ended because it makes you wonder what happens.

    • I liked the idea of psychic powers and ghosts having a interesting explanation. I liked Lynch as a villain, he was twisted enough to be very frightening Zander Grace came across to me as a little whiny brat. The little girl Hailey is more mature. I mean this is their great hero? He alienates his own uncle, insults everyone, etc etc.Plus I really hate books that end in cliffhanger.

    • Fantastic Book!! Got really sucked into it. I really enjoyed the mystery of the island and how it kept coming back throughout the main plot. I also loved figuring out what the discovery was and how funny all the characters were. Really fun book. It'll be a great experience for anyone who wants to pick it up.

    • I received this book as a gift from the author in exchange for an honest review.Science, religion, romance, psychopaths and adventure all packed into one book. The characters are very interesting. There are some fast paced areas and then it slows down a bit. You definitely ought to read Vita Maglia. It is a great story. I can’t imagine anyone would not like this book.
