    • Great book about the beginnings of aviation and a hard core group of 38 US aviators who flew for the French during WWI. The many sources used add to it's credibility. There are multiple photos, inserted at just the right place to enhance readability. Many of the photos contrast in 2014 one hundred years after the war, with vintage images done during the war--nicely done. The book talks about pilots, not support crew nor much about leadership.     • It's really a 4 1/2 star book. It is an excellent review of the pilots of the Lafayette Escadrille. The stories and individual short biographies are great reads.
